Hudson Valley Garlic Festival

Children's Area
Once again, the Saugerties Art Lab (a great volunteer organization that encourages children and our community to appreciate art, music and interdisciplinary learning experiences) will assist children with pumpkin decorating and other fun activities at the Chidren’s Craft Tent. They will be supported by volunteers from the Key Club and from the community. Additionally, members of the Saugerties Teachers Association will display their talents at face painting.

Local children’s bookseller, Barefoot Storyland, will be selling Barefoot Books, Putumayo Kids Music, Folkmanis Puppets and Mudpuppy Press Puzzles. Story Time will also be conducted twice daily at the Barefoot Storyland booth. Barefoot Storyland will also be handing out garlic recipes.

Another local business, Busybeedz Jewely-Making Classes and Parties, will be offering children’s jewelry/craft-making materials for sale, and will assist children with their glass bead creations, including, of course, garlic beads.

For older children, for a nominal fee, we will have the following available:

  • A Climbing Wall, from Climb Time, Inc. This is one of the first portable rock climbing walls in upstate, NY. It provides an easy, fun and safe way to experience the excitement and challenge of rock climbing. The wall (see photo on the right) stands 24 feet high and provides 4 different climbing routes, of varying difficulty. It is appropriate for climbers from 3 to 81 years old. The wall provides dual, built-in safety measures to automatically lower the climbers slowly and safely to the ground. For more information, check out their Web site at www.itsclimbtime.com
